Practice tracing a plan forward. Make a prediction, check it against a separate branch, then decide what to do in the live world.
Practice planning practiceChoose Guided, Supported, or Independent when you start. There is no time limit; facts and rules are always free to hear again.
Small planning worlds
Cellar choices
Compare a small set of resource actions and trace what each one really changes.
Scarce prerequisites
Explore a hypothetical route to see how spending a limited resource changes what is possible.
Investment horizon
Work out when a delayed payoff can beat an immediate reward.
Contested shared market
Choose among limited shared tiles and account for a disclosed rival response.
The recommended route mixes skill focus and task family. The four existing Planning links still open their matching focus, so saved links keep their intent.
Guided, Supported, and Independent
Guided asks for a state prediction after each branch step. Supported and Independent let you run a concealed multistep line and check only when you choose. Independent feedback waits until the challenge ends. A check that reveals an unpredicted state is assistance and cannot count as unassisted mastery.
Branch actions never change the live world. A committed move does; the next decision starts from the state you actually reached. Review explains the committed move and waits for you to continue.
Controls that keep the task moving
- “Continue”
- Finish a briefing part or move past a review when you are ready.
- “Explore [action]”
- Open or extend a separate hypothetical line. Supported and Independent accept several steps before any optional state check. An unavailable action gives free rule guidance.
- “Back one”, “Back to start”, “Back to game”
- Move around a hypothetical branch without committing it.
- “Check state”
- Predict the state after a move, then check it against the separate branch. Checking never changes the live position; revealing an unpredicted field counts as assistance in the relevant independent evidence.
- “Help” / “Hear [fact]”
- Get a short, free explanation or retrieve a named fact without changing the decision.
- “Repeat” / “Skip” / “Pause”
- Replay the current part, leave this challenge, or pause to resume or finish.
Touch controls and voice use the same commands. Voice waits for a complete request; retrieval prefixes cannot turn into scored moves after a recognition revision.
Progress is bounded to real practice
Practice tracks seven skills separately: updating state, managing branches, anticipating replies, evaluating positions, allocating search, reasoning about uncertainty, and replanning. Worlds include declared chance models, independent rivals, shared resources, delayed returns, and shared-input production. Old camp levels remain historical and do not grant new-skill mastery.
Choices are evaluated within each exercise’s stated model. A toy opponent cue is not evidence about real people, and practice or assessment results do not establish transfer to general working memory or board-game skill.
Constructed transfer and reflection
Practice compares seven disclosed game and everyday A/B examples, then returns to exact multi-step plans. Each pair changes a stated constraint. These constructed examples do not establish general cognitive transfer.
Scheduled planning check
Baseline, post-practice and delayed windows are stored separately. A check is not a training score.
Check scheduleStructured reflection
Record what changed, what you expected and what could change your plan. No correctness grade.
Reflect on a plan
Additional constructed Root local-rule exercises are available for supplied positions A, B and C; they resolve only the stated local battle consequence.
